COUNTERPoint 2.1 is modular is nature. (At the present there are 5 major modules). These modules can be used in any combination and can be eliminated all together without effecting the operation of CP 2.1 (though some features will disappear if the modules are not installed). These modules include: (modules most reside in your CP Stuff folder)
CP Color - This module contains all the necessary Color resources and code
for use with Mac II's and above.
CP Help - This module contains Sys7 Balloon Help detailing all features
of COUNTERPoint 2.1 (including all the hidden tricks).
CP Faces - This resource module holds personalized face icons for use when
reading messages.
CP Bio - This resource module holds personalized bio information about
any given user.
CP Sounds - This resource module holds personalized sounds that are attached
to any given user.
COUNTERPoint 2.1 represents many hours of work. Great pains went into incorporating every possible user suggestion received for the last 8 months.
COUNTERPoint 2.1 is not designed to please all people. Some people will find it very useful and flexible and others will try it and decide it is not their cup of tea. We hope you find CP on the useful side, but if you don't there are many other off-line readers available: Cope, macWoof, Freddie, Alice with new ones making their debut every few months.
Files from CP 1.xx and CP 2.x are not compatible. You will have to re-install CP 2.1 using the following installation guide.
Installing COUNTERPoint 2.1.
1. Create a new folder
2. Rename the folder to CPoint (This name can be any thing you want)
3. Copy the COUNTERPoint application into the CPoint folder
4. Open the CPoint Folder & Double Click on the COUNTERPoint application
COUNTERPoint will build all the folders and config files on the fly
5. COUNTERPoint will ask you to Personalize your copy enter the info.
If you are a registered user, enter your Serial Number, located
on the label of your Master CP Disk (enter it exactly as it
appears on the label).
If you are only evaluating CP then leave it blank or enter 9999.
7. COUNTERPoint will now ask you for some information about your modem. Fill in and check the appropriate boxes and click on the 'Save' button.
8. COUNTERPoint will now ask you for some information about your point system setup. Enter this information and click on the 'Save' button.
9. Next CP will display a 'Options' Dialog. Just click on the 'Save' button and use the defaults for now, you can change these as with all information later.
10. Finally CP will ask you to enter information about your boss. Enter the information about your boss and be sure to click on the primary boss check box and then click on the 'Save' Button, answer 'Yes' to the alert box and the click on the 'Done' button.
11. Quit COUNTERPoint
12. Copy the following support modules into the newly created CP Stuff folder. (these files are not necessary for CP to run, but they will greatly enhance and expand the capabilities of CP)
CP Faces - Contains personal Face Icons
CP Bio - Contains personal Information
CP Sounds - Contains personal Sounds
CP Help - Contains System 7 Balloon Help on Major Features
CP Color - Contains full color support code/resources
13. Copy the following Modules into your CPoint Folder
